The Tier 1 (Investor) category is for high net worth individuals making a substantial financial investment in the United Kingdom.Initial applications,A migrant amongst other things needs to score 75 points by either:
- Demonstrating that he has no less than £1 million under his control, held in a regulated financial institution and disposable in the United Kingdom.
- Demonstrating that he owns personal assets exceeding £2 million after deducting liabilities they are subject to and has no less than £1 million under his control held in a regulated financial institution which has been loaned to him by a regulated financial institution.
Extension applications
A migrant needs to score 75 points from the available 105 points below:
- 30 points – If the applicant has money of his own, under his own control, in the United Kingdom amounting to not less than £1 million;
- 30 points – if the applicant owns personal assets exceeding £2 million after deducting liabilities they are subject to and has no less than £1 million under his control held in a regulated financial institution which has been loaned to him by a regulated financial institution.
- 30 points – if the applicant has invested not less than £750,000 of his capital in the United Kingdom by way of United Kingdom Government bonds, share capital or loan capital in active and trading United Kingdom registered companies other than those principally engaged in property investment; and has invested the remaining balance of £1 million in the UK by the purchase of assets or by maintaining the money on deposit in a UK regulated financial institution.
- 15 points – if the above investment was made with three months of being granted entry clearance, leave to enter or remain in the United Kingdom.
Exemptions:
Applicants are exempt from satisfying the maintenance and English language requirements.
